Covid-19 Response

Hey Everyone! We want to share how the Market is adapting to Covid-19, and the Governor's Order - and to ask you all to help make market a safe and thriving part of the Madison community.

We're putting the health of the community first, and taking a cautious approach, per the City and the Jefferson County Health Department's guidance. Here's what that means:
  • First, vendors will be required to wear masks.
  • Second, We're also asking customers to wear masks - because although we're outside, it's nearly impossible to social distance while shopping and purchasing things at market. We're also asking customers to stay home if you're feeling ill, and of course please do your best to social distance while at market!
  • Third, We're going to do our best to spread out the booths more, and we'll be adding a hand washing station as well as signage encouraging customers to social distance. We know this is a contentious issue - and we love that normally Market is a place where we're one big happy family! Right now, we've got to stick together.

Since we're still operating under the City's umbrella, we asked them for guidance. They said, in short: We all want to get back to some sense of normal, but we've also got to adapt. We need to follow the Gov's order. We also asked the Jefferson County Health Department how the market should be adapting. They said: The masks are the best tool we have right now for fighting the spread of Covid-19. Events must follow the mask requirement if people can't social distance, even if they're outside. Obviously none of us want to wear masks. They're annoying and hot, but it's what the Governor is requiring, and so it's our best path forward for the health of our community. We look forward to seeing you at market, masked up but with a smile under there. There will be so much good food and local goodies at market this weekend. We'll see you there!
